Alpha Acton Academy Celebrates Its First Year in Folsom, Redefining Education Through Learner-Driven Discovery

FOLSOM, Calif. — November 2025 — After one year of inspiring curiosity and independence in young learners, Alpha Acton Academy is celebrating its first year in Folsom. The nonprofit K–8 academy is part of the global Acton Academy network, offering a transformative, learner-driven approach to education that empowers students to take charge of their own learning journey.

Founded by Jane Ternavsky, Alpha Acton Academy opened its doors in 2024 with a mission to create a community where children learn through hands-on projects, Socratic discussions, and goal-driven challenges — not lectures or tests. Over the past year, learners have completed exhibitions of their work, built collaborative projects, and discovered the joy of learning with purpose.

“Our first year has been remarkable,” said Jane Ternavsky, Founder and Head of School. “We’ve watched learners grow in confidence, curiosity, and leadership. Families are realizing that education can be joyful, self-directed, and deeply meaningful.”

Located in Folsom, California, Alpha Acton Academy features multi-age learning studios and real-world learning experiences that help each child develop strong character and a love of lifelong learning. The Academy is now enrolling for the 2025–26 school year and invites families to attend the Children’s Business Fair on March 28th, 2026 to engage with young entrepreneurs, tour the space, meet the guides, and explore its innovative learning model.
